Neighborhood Safety Tips
Listen, Learn & Linger Event with Palm Springs Police Lieutenant Frank Browning
September 13th, 2022
Neighborhood Safety Tips from Police Lieutenant Frank Browning:
(1) Put your trash cans out on the street for pick up even if they are empty. And, of course, take them in promptly. Trash cans lingering on the street for a few days signals no one is home. If you're away for an extended period of time, ask a neighbor to take your trash cans down to the street.
(2) Lock your car! It is a felony when someone breaks into/gains access to a locked vehicle. If the window is left ajar or the car door is left unlocked, then the penalty for theft is not a felony.
(3) Lock your home door and windows. With better weather approaching people sleep with their sliders open. Intruders have been gaining access to homes through open or unlocked window/door sliders, so please exercise all due caution
(4) Always be aware of your surroundings, both when out and in the neighborhood.
The PSPD continues to face staffing challenges, so letβs do our part and help the PSPD keep us safe.
